A guide to commercial tyres for drivers and vehicle operators
There are as many different types of truck tyre as there are different types of truck. There are tyres for heavy loads and for high speeds, for off-road use, for local delivery vans, for high horse power long haul, for drive axles, for steering axles, tyres that work well in quarries and on the open road, tyres to replace twin assemblies, tyres for mud and snow. That's just for starters:
The right tyre for the job
Just because a 44 tonne, intercontinental, six-axled, turbo-charged artic has the same size wheels as a municipal road sweeper doesn't mean it needs the same tyres.
Choosing the tyre for the job can seem a confusing business, but it need not be. The first rule, if you have a truck tyre problem, is discuss it with your tyre dealer or truck manufacturer.
The wrong tyre for the job will cost you money and could be dangerous.
Of course, if your vehicle tyres are maintained under a fleet tyre maintenance contract such as a Tructyre PPK service contract, tyre maintenance experts will not only ensure that you are getting the best value out of that expensive rubber, but that the right tyres are fitted for each axle.
Use the links in the left menu or to boxes at the right to access detailed information on getting the best from commercial vehicle tyres and staying within the law.
